‘Good for the head’ – Aston Villa star on his return from long absence

Aston Villa star has shared his comment on his return to the pitch after his long absence from injury.

Aston Villa star who was injured in the middle of the 2025/26 season, Boubacar Kamara, finally made his return on the pitch in the pre-season yesterday. He came off the bench in the second half against BG Pathum Tani in Bangkok and scored the last goal to clinch their 3-1 victory. It was the second game in the Southeast Asian tour. Previously, they won with the same score against Indonesian All Stars in Jakarta.

After the game, the French midfielder shared his view after coming back following his knee injury, as reported by avfc.co.uk.

“It feels good to be back. I’ve waited for this moment.”

“I’ve worked hard during my rehab, for coming back stronger, so I’m happy to be here.I didn’t expect to score, it’s good. It’s good for the head. This goal will give me more confidence and I need to keep going.”

Kamara on Villa’s pre-season

The 26-year old midfielder has been sharing his opinion too on Villa’s pre-season, particularly in the current Asia tour.

“It’s very hot, it’s difficult to breathe. The humidity is hard. But it’s good, it’s good for the body. So when we come back to England, we’ll feel better.”

Aston Villa have played twice so far in the Asian tour. Last Saturday, they faced off against the Indonesian All Star and picked up their second win in the pre-season. The team which departed from Birmingham last Wednesday had their second game yesterday versus BG Pathum Tani yesterday.

Their next destination is Hong Kong. Unai Emery’s men will be taking on Bayern Munich there on Friday. Soon afterwards, Villa will be back home and get ready for UEFA Super Cup against PSG in Salzburg.

Kamara has a chance to feature in that game as Emery’s new signing, Johan Manzambi will still be unavailable due to his injury, as well as Amadou Onana. John McGinn might be sidelined too after picking up an injury last night. That leaves Kamara, Ross Barkley and Joao Gomes plus Lamare Bogarde for the defensive midfielder. They would be competing for claiming two spots in Emery’s favorite 4-2-3-1 formation with double pivot.

Kamara’s form for Aston Villa so far

Boubacar Kamara joined Aston Villa ahead of the 2022/23 campaign from Olympique Marseille. He has featured in 123 games so far, netting three goals and providing six assists in all competitions.

Last season was actually his stellar season before he took a knock. The Frenchman with five international caps, made 25 appearances. He registered one goal and four assists last season, including the one for Villa’s first ever goal in the league when they held Sunderland in a 1-1 draw.

Kamara also set up the winning goal from Emiliano Buendia when The Lions crushed Arsenal 2-1 at home. Previously, he even bagged the only goal of the game as The Clarets and Blue thumped Wolverhampton 1-0 in Villa Park.

Such performance hopefully can be replicated this season, hopefully without any more injuries. The former OM man has suffered injuries eight times in Villa shirt, from knee, ankle and hamstring injury and thigh problems. His longest absence was in the 2023/24 season, when he was sidelined for 30 games due to his knee injury.
