Houston Dynamo produced a dominant display on Saturday, with Guilherme Santos and Agustín Bouzat both finding the net in a convincing 2-0 shutout of Sporting KC.

The result moves Houston to fourth place in the Western Conference standings, a position that underlines their growing consistency and quality this season.

The Dynamo now sit on a record of nine wins, six losses, and two draws, putting them two points clear of Real Salt Lake in the conference table.

Santos opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a stunning outside-the-box strike that carried an expected goal value of just 3%, making it a moment of real individual quality.

The goal was more than just a spectacular finish, as it placed Santos in rare company among MLS players throughout the league’s history.

With that strike, Santos became the ninth player in MLS history to score or assist on at least 17 of his club’s first 25 goals in a season.

Agustín Bouzat then made the result safe with a composed left-footed shot from the center of the box, putting any doubt about the outcome firmly to rest.

That goal also extended Houston’s unbeaten run to five consecutive games, a streak that highlights their recent form heading into the latter stages of the season.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was equally impressive throughout the contest, making four saves to ensure the Dynamo kept a clean sheet against a Sporting KC side that offered little reward.

Houston will look to continue their momentum when they host the New England Revolution next Saturday, while Sporting KC face a two-week wait before returning to action at home against the Colorado Rapids on August 15.
