Arsenal are exploring an ambitious move for Real Madrid winger Vinícius Júnior, with Mikel Arteta searching for an elite attacker to transform his frontline.
The interest remains at an early stage, but it has reportedly received approval throughout the club’s football operation at every level.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing Vinícius, although there has been no direct contact with Real Madrid yet.
The idea being approved at every level inside Arsenal suggests this is more than an unrealistic suggestion being floated around the club’s corridors.
Vinícius Júnior would bring explosive pace, one-on-one quality and proven Champions League experience to the Emirates Stadium if a move were to materialise.
The Brazilian naturally operates from the left, the position Arsenal have been looking to strengthen despite already adding Christos Tzolis this summer.
No negotiations have begun between the clubs, with much depending on whether Madrid can resolve the winger’s contract situation before Arsenal make a formal approach.
His current agreement at the Bernabeu is due to expire in 2027, creating a situation that could force Real Madrid into making difficult decisions sooner rather than later.
Real Madrid do not want to lose one of their most valuable players for nothing in the summer of 2027, giving this saga real urgency in the coming weeks.
If no renewal breakthrough arrives, Madrid may eventually have to consider offers during the current window rather than allow Vinícius to enter the final months of his deal.
AS previously reported that Madrid and Vinícius planned to hold decisive renewal talks in late July, with both sides publicly indicating a desire to continue together.
From Arsenal’s perspective, the opportunity is clear, as Vinícius would provide the individual brilliance required to unlock deep defences across Europe’s biggest stages.
Signing the Brazilian could give Arteta one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking combinations, particularly with Bukayo Saka operating on the opposite flank.
However, this would represent an enormously expensive operation involving a major transfer fee alongside superstar-level wages that would stretch even Arsenal’s considerable resources.
Arsenal must also establish whether Vinícius Júnior would genuinely consider leaving Madrid before committing serious resources to pursuing a deal this window.
