Julian Hall has been named to the MLS All-Star Game as a commissioner’s pick, adding another milestone to an already remarkable debut season for the teenager.
The 18-year-old New York Red Bulls forward will represent his club when MLS All-Stars face the LIGA MX All-Stars on July 29 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
Hall leads his team with nine goals in just 15 regular-season appearances, a tally that places him inside the top ten scorers across the entire league this season.
His breakthrough campaign began in style when he recorded his first career MLS brace in a season-opening victory over Orlando City SC, immediately signalling his potential.
Hall further cemented his reputation on May 13, scoring a hat trick in a 3-2 win over the Columbus Crew to etch his name into the record books.
That treble made him the youngest player in MLS history to score three goals in a single match, achieving the feat at just 18 years and 50 days old.
The All-Star nod also carries significant local pride, as Hall becomes only the third player in club history with New York roots to earn a place in an MLS All-Star squad.
The Manhattan native joins former Red Bulls defender Mike Petke, from Bohemia, and Wappingers Falls native Tyler Adams in that exclusive group of locally connected All-Stars.
Despite the extraordinary numbers he has put up, Hall remained measured when reflecting on his first half of the season during a Red Bulls training session at the club’s new Morristown, New Jersey facility in June.
“I mean, for me personally, I always strive for more,” he told reporters. “I had a decent first half of the season. I always want to do better, especially for the second half of the season and as we push for the playoffs.”
The Red Bulls head into the second half of the campaign sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference, having won three of their last four matches before the World Cup break.
Head coach Michael Bradley described the break as a “second preseason” for the squad as they prepare to chase a deep playoff run in the months ahead.
Bradley outlined the importance of building momentum in the second half of the season, noting that historically it is the decisive factor in determining who goes far in MLS.
“Those are the teams that historically do really well,” Bradley said, referencing clubs that find form during the final stretch run of regular-season games.
With Hall firing on all cylinders and the team trending upward, New York Red Bulls appear well placed to make a serious push for the postseason.
