Newcastle United Prepare First Official Bid For Johan Manzambi With 24-Hour Deal Push Planned

Newcastle United are closing in on a move for Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi, with transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealing a formal offer is being prepared.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, outlined that the Magpies have already been in contact with the player’s camp over recent weeks ahead of the formal bid.

Newcastle had also been scouting Manzambi prior to these latest developments, indicating a sustained and serious level of interest in the Swiss talent.

The club are now looking to replicate their trademark approach of completing major Bundesliga transfers within an incredibly tight timeframe of around 24 hours.

Romano pointed to previous deals as evidence of Newcastle’s swift business in Germany, noting how the Nick Woltemade and Bazoumana Toure signings were both wrapped up within a single day.

“Newcastle are preparing their first official bid,” Romano said, adding that the club already had some contacts on the player side over recent weeks.

Manzambi has been one of the standout performers at the 2026 World Cup, registering five goal contributions for Switzerland and catching the eye of clubs across Europe.

“Five goal contributions, scoring, providing assists, one of the most interesting talents appearing on scene from the 2026 World Cup,” Romano said of the midfielder.

Freiburg are expected to demand a significant transfer fee for their player, meaning this will not come cheap for Newcastle despite their desire to act quickly.

Romano was clear that Newcastle are not alone in their pursuit, with Manchester United also credited with an interest in Manzambi according to a report from the Daily Mail.

However, that same Daily Mail report indicated that Newcastle had been informed they are at the front of the queue, giving the Magpies a notable advantage in negotiations.

The pursuit of Manzambi comes on the back of a difficult start to the summer window for Newcastle, who have already lost Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali before the business really got underway.

Strengthening the midfield department is therefore a clear priority for the club as they look to rebuild momentum heading into next season.

Manchester United will also be watching the situation closely, as their own midfield options could benefit from fresh reinforcements this summer.

For now, Romano’s update gives Newcastle fans genuine reason for optimism that a deal for one of the World Cup’s most exciting emerging talents could be finalised very soon.
