Liverpool are on the hunt for a quality wide player this summer, and former club legend Robbie Fowler has made his preferred target very clear.
Fowler took to X to publicly urge Liverpool to pursue AC Milan attacker Christian Pulisic, describing the American as an “exciting” option for the Reds.
The 27-year-old United States international has impressed significantly since moving to Italy, scoring 42 goals and contributing 27 assists for Milan.
Fowler believes Pulisic could serve as a Salah-type addition, providing the goals and creativity from wide areas that Liverpool are actively seeking.
Pulisic already carries Premier League experience from his time at Chelsea, where he was part of the squad that won the UEFA Champions League.
That combination of top-level European pedigree and English football familiarity makes him an appealing candidate on paper for a Liverpool side targeting reinforcements.
However, not everyone is convinced that Pulisic would represent the right move for a club with Liverpool’s ambitions heading into the new season.
The American international has been dogged by persistent injury problems throughout his career, and his form can be inconsistent despite his undeniable quality.
Milan will also be reluctant to part ways with Pulisic, who remains a key figure for the club, though his contract does run until only 2027.
Should he fail to extend that deal, the Italian side could face mounting pressure to cash in on him rather than risk losing him for nothing.
Liverpool had previously shown strong interest in Yan Diomande, but that pursuit ended when the player opted to join PSG instead of the Merseyside club.
The Reds have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as they continue their search for attacking reinforcements this window.
With Liverpool focused on building a squad capable of competing at the highest level for years to come, investing in younger talent may ultimately be the smarter strategy.
Pulisic would undoubtedly bring proven quality to Anfield, but Liverpool’s recruitment team will weigh whether he truly represents the long-term solution they need.
