Tottenham have made a formal enquiry to sign Como midfielder Martin Baturina, according to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto.
Moretto revealed the news on YouTube, confirming that Spurs have reached out to the Italian club to gather information on the Croatian playmaker’s availability.
Baturina has quickly established himself as one of European football’s most exciting young midfielders, and his performances have not gone unnoticed by some of the continent’s biggest clubs.
Bayern Munich and Aston Villa have also lodged firm enquiries for the 23-year-old, meaning Tottenham face stiff competition if they are to secure his signature this summer.
Some reports have indicated that Spurs have already submitted a bid in the region of €50 million, a figure that falls well short of what Como are demanding for their prized asset.
The Italian club are insisting on a fee of €80 million and have made clear they do not want to part with Baturina under any circumstances below that valuation.
Como’s firm stance is backed by a historic fourth-place Serie A finish that secured Champions League qualification for the first time, giving them significant leverage in any negotiation.
Manager Cesc Fabregas considers Baturina an indispensable part of his sporting project, and the player’s contract running until 2030 strengthens the club’s position considerably.
Baturina’s market value has surged dramatically on the back of his performances at the 2026 World Cup, where he has been one of the standout players in the group stages.
He played a key role in Croatia’s Group L clash against England, scoring a magnificent equaliser that kept his nation in contention against one of the tournament’s leading sides.
His display against Panama was arguably even more impressive, with Baturina completing six successful dribbles and winning seven fouls in a single game.
According to Squawka, that statistical combination had not been achieved at a World Cup since Diego Maradona managed the feat against Belgium all the way back in 1982.
Operating as Croatia’s creative heartbeat throughout the tournament, the young midfielder has drawn comparisons to some of the game’s most celebrated playmakers with his dribbling and vision.
Tottenham will need to move quickly and meet Como’s valuation in full if they are serious about landing one of the most sought-after midfielders in world football this summer.
