Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham Hotspur Pre-Season Schedule Takes Shape Ahead Of Premier League Return

Tottenham Hotspur players are set to return to their Enfield training base at Hotspur Way in under a fortnight as Roberto De Zerbi’s pre-season plans begin to crystallise.

The Italian head coach already has six pre-season fixtures locked in for his squad before the Premier League campaign begins competitively on August 22 with a trip to Brentford.

That opening league date has been pushed back from the traditional schedule due to the World Cup currently taking place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

As a result, the pre-season start is later than usual, with first-team players beginning to filter back to the Enfield training complex in stages from Friday, July 10, for medical and physical testing along with gym work.

Full training sessions on the pitches with the coaching staff will then get underway from Monday, July 13, as De Zerbi looks to build fitness and tactical shape quickly.

Some players will have staggered return dates depending on their international commitments, with several having featured in friendlies or World Cup fixtures well into this month.

Tottenham’s first summer friendly will see them welcome League One side MK Dons to Hotspur Way on Wednesday, July 22, offering De Zerbi an early look at his squad.

Shortly after that, Spurs will travel to New Zealand to face Auckland FC at Eden Park on Sunday, July 26, before crossing to Australia to take on A-League side Sydney FC at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday, July 29.

The southern hemisphere tour closes with a fixture that carries historic significance, as Tottenham face Chelsea in the 2026 Sydney Super Cup on Saturday, August 1, at the 83,500-capacity Accor Stadium in what will be the first Spurs derby played outside the United Kingdom.

Returning home, Tottenham have confirmed a double-header against Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in the week leading into the new league season, with Hoffenheim having finished fifth in last season’s Bundesliga table.

The first of those fixtures takes place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, August 15, with a 3pm kick-off, and tickets have been priced at £20 for adults and £5 for children.

The second meeting with Christian Ilzer’s Hoffenheim side follows the very next day on Sunday, August 16, in a behind-closed-doors game at Hotspur Way designed to give another Tottenham starting eleven valuable playing time.

The double fixture is intended to sharpen fitness and competitive readiness across the entire squad as De Zerbi fine-tunes his preparations for that August 22 opener at Brentford.

The club has indicated there is still space in the schedule between the Chelsea game and the Hoffenheim double-header, suggesting further friendly fixtures could be announced in the weeks ahead.
