Ana Galocha Hits Back At Online Abuse Targeting Davide Ancelotti Over Neymar Viral Images

In few countries does the national football team command as much public attention as Brazil, and Davide Ancelotti has now found himself at the centre of that intense scrutiny.

Images of his apparent reaction to Neymar Junior coming on during Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Scotland have spread rapidly across Brazilian social media.

The footage appears to show Davide Ancelotti looking glum and shaking his head in Neymar’s direction while the forward was receiving instructions before his substitution.

Neymar made his first appearance of the tournament during the 76th minute of their final group stage match against Scotland, a highly anticipated moment for Brazilian fans.

The Santos forward’s inclusion in the squad had already proven controversial, with his return marking his first call-up under Carlo Ancelotti for the tournament.

His place in the squad came at a cost, with Chelsea’s Joao Pedro losing his spot for the tournament being held across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The viral clip sparked a wave of online abuse directed at Davide Ancelotti and his family, with supporters interpreting his expression as a sign of disapproval toward the veteran forward.

Davide Ancelotti’s wife, Ana Galocha, took to social media to respond directly to the torrent of criticism aimed at her family.

“You know that you are completely misinterpreting an image, in a way that bears no relation to reality, and that, because of this, I have been receiving countless insults since this morning? We are the first ones who want Brazil to win.”

Galocha’s response drew considerable attention of its own, with many supporters weighing in on both sides of the debate surrounding the widely shared footage.

Davide Ancelotti initially took charge of Botafogo after he and his father departed Real Madrid last summer, though that stint lasted just six months before coming to an end.

He subsequently rejoined his father’s backroom staff as part of the Brazilian national team setup ahead of the World Cup.

Carlo Ancelotti is expected to continue in his role as Brazil head coach through to the 2030 tournament following the conclusion of the current competition.

Davide, meanwhile, is set to take on his second job in senior management when he moves to Lille in France after the tournament wraps up.
