Paris Saint-Germain Fined And Handed Suspended Ban By UEFA Following Champions League Final Against Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain have been issued a fine and a suspended away-fan ban by UEFA in the aftermath of their Champions League final victory over Arsenal in Budapest.

The French club defeated the Gunners in dramatic fashion last month, with the match ending 1-1 after ninety minutes before PSG won 4-3 in the subsequent penalty shootout.

UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body launched a formal investigation into supporter behaviour during the final and has now delivered its verdict.

PSG have been fined €80,000, the equivalent of approximately £69,000, for the lighting of fireworks by their supporters during the match.

In addition to the fireworks fine, UEFA has handed PSG a one-match ban preventing the club from selling tickets to their away supporters at future European fixtures.

That ban has been suspended for a two-year probationary period, meaning it will not affect PSG during the 2026/27 Champions League campaign.

A separate fine of €10,875, around £9,380, was also issued to PSG for the throwing of objects by supporters during the final.

Combined, the two financial penalties mean Paris Saint-Germain face a total bill of €90,875, equivalent to approximately £78,380, for the offences committed in Budapest.

The CEDB statement confirmed: “To fine Paris Saint-Germain €80,000 and to ban Paris Saint-Germain from selling tickets to its away supporters for the next (1) UEFA competition match, for lighting of fireworks.”

The body further stated: “Said ban from selling tickets to its away supporters is suspended for a probationary period of two (2) years, starting from the date of the present decision.”

The CEDB also confirmed: “To fine Paris Saint-Germain €10,875 for throwing of objects.”

Despite losing the Champions League final, Arsenal enjoyed a highly successful season, claiming the Premier League title under Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners will return to Champions League action next season and will be placed in pot one for the August draw alongside PSG, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid.

Whether Arsenal and PSG will be drawn against each other again in the league phase of the competition remains to be seen when the draw takes place.
