Leeds United have made a surprise move to sign Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, submitting a formal offer of £20 million for the 22-year-old.

The bid has been reported by Sky Sports, confirming that Leeds have formalised their interest in the Northern Ireland international this summer.

However, the opening proposal has fallen short of Southampton’s asking price, with the South Coast club valuing Charles significantly higher than the offer received.
