Arsenal Submit Bid For Jeremy Monga As Julian Alvarez And Bradley Barcola Links Intensify
Arsenal have submitted a formal bid to sign Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga, with a deal worth between £10million and £15million currently under discussion.
The 16-year-old winger has already featured in both the Premier League and the Championship for the Foxes, attracting significant interest from the Gunners this summer.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal have sent an official bid, with a deal said to be moving quickly between the two clubs.
There has also been internal consideration at Leicester over whether a season in League One would better serve Monga’s development rather than another year in academy football.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has again made clear that Julian Alvarez will not be sold for anything less than his £433million release clause.
Cerezo said: “Julian is an Atletico de Madrid player, and whoever wants Julian should come, see the contract, and if they are interested, they will take him; and if not, then he will not take it.”
Real Madrid had a £130million offer rejected by Atletico earlier this month, with Arsenal and Barcelona also credited with strong interest in the Argentina international.
Cerezo added: “It’s the summer thing. You know how the situation is, he is an Atletico de Madrid player. And I think he will be an Atletico de Madrid player. Whoever wants to, let them come and see the contract.”
On the Bradley Barcola front, football.london understands Arsenal are genuinely interested in the Paris Saint-Germain winger as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options this summer.
Barcola scored a stunning goal off the bench during France’s 3-1 World Cup win over Senegal, latching onto Adrien Rabiot’s low pass before chipping the ball over Edouard Mendy in the 82nd minute.
The 23-year-old registered 13 goals and seven assists across all competitions last season, though he has often played second fiddle to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at PSG.
The CIES Football Observatory values Barcola at around £75million, while Morgan Rogers is valued at up to £126million, meaning Arsenal could spend £200million if they pursue both targets.
Arsenal CEO Richard Garlick also provided an update on potential stadium expansion plans at a fan event, saying: “We are constrained by capacity increase, railway and underground issues are a problem, but we are narrowing some options, it could be renovations, but we want to invest in the facilities.”
Declan Rice offered reassurance over his fitness after being substituted during England’s 4-2 World Cup win over Croatia, saying: “All good, good as gold. Just what I’ve been nursing probably in the second half of the season, little pains here and there, but I’m all good.”
England manager Thomas Tuchel echoed those sentiments, saying Rice’s withdrawal was purely precautionary and that he hopes the Arsenal midfielder will be available to face Ghana.
Noni Madueke impressed for England in the same fixture, creating one big chance, winning a penalty, and completing 94 percent of his passes during 72 minutes on the pitch.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with Roma midfielder Manu Kone, with any deal expected to cost around £43million, according to Italian outlet Corriere della Sera.
Kone, currently part of France’s World Cup squad, told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Honestly, right now I’m only thinking about the World Cup. It’s my first major international competition, a tournament I’ve always dreamed of playing in.”
