Arsenal are plotting a move for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola as they look to build on their Premier League title success.
The French international has emerged as a priority target for Mikel Arteta, who is determined to elevate the quality of his attack this summer.
According to The Independent, Barcola has been specifically highlighted as a player who could bring a genuine upgrade to Arsenal’s starting line-up.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been monitoring the winger’s situation in recent months, with a Premier League move growing increasingly appealing.
PSG’s preference is to retain Barcola, but the Ligue 1 champions are also open to reshaping their forward line ahead of next season.
Barcola played a significant role in PSG’s back-to-back Champions League triumphs, though uncertainty has surrounded his future heading into the summer window.
The 22-year-old featured 49 times for PSG last season, scoring 13 goals across all competitions, with two of those strikes coming in the Champions League.
Reports suggest Barcola began reassessing his future after slipping down Luis Enrique’s pecking order, with the PSG manager favouring a front three of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele for much of last campaign.
The Independent also reports there is every chance Arsenal will sign Morgan Rogers alongside an attacker of Barcola’s profile this window.
Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke made clear after the Premier League title win that the club’s ambition does not stop with domestic success.
Kroenke said: “Our stated goal was winning the Premier League, because if you can put yourself in contention for the Premier League, you’re in contention for everything else.”
He added: “In our experience of winning things in the States, when you win something, the sun’s still going to come up the next day.”
Kroenke was equally firm on the club’s transfer intentions, stating: “You’ve got to get back to work and there are many teams trying to gain on you, including some historically great ones around the Premier League.”
He continued: “We’re going to look to strengthen because we know teams around us are going to get better. If you’re not trying to continually evolve and improve, you’re standing still.”
Arteta reached the Champions League final last season while also delivering a Premier League title, yet the Spaniard remains hungry to push the squad to an even higher level.
