‘Just noise’ – Aston Villa star shares his view on his summer transfer rumors

Aston Villa star shares his view on his ongoing rumors about him leaving Villa Park this summer.

Aston Villa star, Morgan Rogers, has been on the spotlight in the past few seasons. Since joining The Lions, the 23-year old has been the key man for the club and played vital role in Unai Emery’s campaigns. No wonder that he has been the subject of transfer rumors almost every window.

This summer is not so different. The Premier League champion, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and even Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on Rogers. They are aiming for his signature to bolster their squad.

Nevertheless, during the interview in The Rest is Football, the former Middlesbrough man appears to remain undistracted and focused ahead of England’s opener in 2026 FIFA World Cup. He calmly responded to those rumors with confidence as reported by Birminghammail.

“I think the first time it ever happened, you are in an uncomfortable spot of not realising that people have so much interest in you and you’re not quite realising it.

“But as you get older and you are getting experience along the way, you know that comes with it. Ninety-five per cent of it is just noise, you hear it of course you do, you can’t help not.

Will Rogers leave?

Morgan Rogers has established himself as one of the important figures in Unai Emery’s team. His versatility as the number 10 or operating wide, plus even as second striker gives flexibility to the team.

Last season was another stellar one for him. He registered 14 goals and 12 assists in 55 games in all competition. His contribution helped Villa clinched their first silverware in 30 years and inspired their return to UEFA Champions League next season.

He is still under the contract with the West Midlands side until 2031. So, Villa is under the control of keeping him as best they can. Rogers does not seem to be in a rush of leaving Villa Park too.

Should he leave, The Lions might put the asking price in the same amount as selling Jack Grealish in 2021 with £ 100 million transfer fee. Such only happens if the club is under pressure to balance their finance again with another financial regulation violation threat. Otherwise, the attacking midfielder with 15 international caps might opt to stay for at least one more season, as Emery himself believed to ask him to do, and the player appears to have objection about it.

Who is his ideal replacement?

Should Rogers have to depart this summer, who Unai Emery really need to sign as his ideal replacement? A number of names have been linked to the move but perhaps only a few who deserves better attention for Villa.

Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Goncalves is probably the best choice in the market. He is open to join the Clarets and Blue, experienced at the top level, in his peak years and only cost less than £25 million.

The next one to choose is probably Harry Wilson. He is available for free, proven profile in the Premier League and looking for a new challenge. Villa can provide him all. Perhaps, Emery can promote both Samuel Illing-Junior and Lewis Dobbin too into the first team to back up the Welsh international who is already 29 years of age.

Last but not least is the top talent from Italy, Mathias Soule. The young Argentine is AS Roma’s key man but he could be sold to comply with the club’s need to match financial security next season. He is still 23 years old, top talent and cost higher than the previous two.
