Newcastle United are demanding around £100 million for midfielder Sandro Tonali, with both Arsenal and Manchester City registering serious interest this summer.
Journalist Nicolo Schira has reported that both Premier League clubs are closely monitoring the Italy international ahead of a potential move.
Newcastle’s position on the matter is straightforward and uncompromising, as the club have no desire to part with one of their most influential midfielders on the cheap.
Tonali joined Newcastle from AC Milan in 2023 and has since established himself as a central figure in the club’s midfield operations.

Manchester City’s interest is equally logical, given that Pep Guardiola consistently demands technical intelligence and positional discipline from his midfielders.
Tonali’s versatility to operate as a deep-lying controller or push higher up the pitch would provide City with valuable tactical flexibility across a long and demanding season.
Manchester United have also been linked with the Italian, making this one of the more competitive midfield pursuits of the current transfer window.
However, with Newcastle’s asking price sitting firmly around the £100 million mark, any interested party will need serious financial commitment to make progress.
Unless Arsenal or City are prepared to meet that demand in full, completing a deal for Sandro Tonali this summer looks set to be an extraordinarily difficult task.
