Real Madrid Still Deciding Whether To Sign Enzo Fernandez After Marc Cucurella Arrival

Real Madrid are continuing to weigh their midfield options this summer, even after securing a deal for Bernardo Silva on a free transfer from Manchester City.

Los Blancos want to bring in a second midfielder, though the club has yet to settle on exactly who that target will be as the window progresses.

Marc Cucurella became the first signing to be officially announced, joining Real Madrid from Chelsea for €60m including variables, which has attracted significant attention.

Enzo Fernandez quickly fuelled speculation about his own future by liking social media posts reporting news of Cucurella’s move to the Spanish capital.

The Argentina international has previously voiced a desire to live in Madrid, a stance that later earned him a two-match ban following his comments on the matter.

Reporter Ben Jacobs has stated that Real Madrid are “still deciding” on what type of midfielder they want, with manager Jose Mourinho understood to be pushing for Fernandez.

Chelsea’s asking price for Fernandez stands at £120m, a figure that would make him Real Madrid’s most expensive signing in the club’s history if completed.

Jacobs noted the club remain calm about the situation, confirming they will sell Fernandez at the right price but are in no rush to lower their valuation.

Real Madrid have also been active elsewhere, wrapping up agreements with Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate and planning to trigger Denzel Dumfries’ release clause at Inter.

West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes has also emerged as an alternative option, with Mourinho understood to be keen on the breakout star as well.

However, there is reported reluctance within the club to spend €93m on a relatively untested player, despite the high potential Fernandes has shown during his development.

Real Madrid’s midfield pursuit remains one of the most closely watched transfer stories of the summer, with no final decision expected imminently.
