Daniel Kretinsky Delivers Firm West Ham Stance Over Jarrod Bowen And Mateus Fernandes Transfer Links

West Ham director Daniel Kretinsky has moved to shut down speculation linking Manchester United with moves for Jarrod Bowen and Mateus Fernandes this summer.

Both players have attracted significant interest from Old Trafford as the summer transfer window begins to gather momentum across European football.

The pair’s futures have come into question following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship at the end of the season.

Despite the club’s drop down to the second tier, Kretinsky has made clear that financial necessity will not force West Ham into selling their prized assets.

“We have a very credible strategy,” Kretinsky told The Times. “We don’t need to sell the players for financial reasons.”

He added that the club’s singular focus is on an immediate return to the top flight, telling The Times: “We are doing this to make sure we are promoted back to the Premier League immediately. That is our only goal.”

Kretinsky also revealed that discussions have already taken place with key players, saying: “What matters is funding, strategy and consistency. We have spoken to all of them. They need to see that our project is real and serious. Promotion is our only goal.”

Fernandes has emerged as a primary midfield target for Manchester United, with West Ham reportedly valuing the midfielder at around £80million following their relegation from the Premier League.

Reports have suggested United have edged ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Fernandes, making him one of the most sought-after midfielders in this transfer window.

Bowen’s situation has attracted attention from beyond Old Trafford, with Newcastle and Liverpool also mentioned as potential destinations for the 29-year-old, who remains under contract until 2030.

Manchester United have already moved quickly in the transfer market, agreeing a deal to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson for an initial £35million plus £3.8million in add-ons, totalling £38.8million.

The arrival of Ederson suggests further midfield recruitment remains on United’s agenda, particularly following Casemiro’s departure from the club on a free transfer.

Michael Carrick’s side are expected to continue strengthening their squad, though whether they can prise players away from a West Ham side determined to bounce back remains to be seen.
