Tottenham have confirmed that Pedro Porro has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract, ending speculation over his future.
The 26-year-old right-back has been one of Spurs’ most consistent performers since joining from Sporting in 2023, making 152 appearances for the club.
Porro has contributed 13 goals and 26 assists from the right-back position across his three-and-a-half years in north London, underlining his attacking threat.
The Spaniard is currently representing his country at the World Cup, having cemented himself as a regular starter for Spain in recent seasons.
Real Madrid and his former club Manchester City had been making enquiries about Porro, with only two years remaining on his previous deal at Spurs.
Multiple Tottenham head coaches had identified Porro as one of the rare players in the squad capable of playing for any of the Premier League’s top clubs.
The new deal is believed to run until 2031, with a club option for a further 12 months, making Porro one of the highest-paid players at the club.
Sporting director Johan Lange said: “Securing Pedro’s future was an important priority for us this summer. During the past three-and-half years, he has made huge progress to become one of the best full-backs in the game, and the fact he is about to play in the World Cup for Spain is testament to that.”
Lange added: “Pedro is at an age where he can provide leadership and experience, while still having room for further development. His character, work ethic and quality are exactly what we look for when building a squad capable of competing at the highest level and we are delighted that he has chosen to continue his journey with the club.”
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi was equally enthusiastic, saying: “Pedro is a very important player for us, who has consistently shown his ability to influence matches in both defensive and attacking situations.”
De Zerbi continued: “As well as his technical quality, I also love his mentality. Every day he wants to work, to learn and to improve, and these are the characteristics that help players reach the highest level.”
The Italian coach also highlighted the intelligence Porro brings to the team, stating: “He understands football in a very intelligent way, and brings energy, intensity and personality to the team. This new contract is good news for everyone at the club. We believe in Pedro, and I am excited to continue working with him and helping him achieve even more in the coming years.”
Porro was a key figure for De Zerbi last season as Tottenham navigated a difficult campaign that saw them battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
