Arsenal Target Christos Tzolis In £34m Deal With Morgan Rogers Pursuit Still On

Arsenal are pushing to strengthen their attacking options this summer as they look to defend their Premier League title in convincing fashion.

The club are lining up a £34million move for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, who has been in electric form over the past two seasons.

The 24-year-old Greek international has scored 43 goals for Club Brugge across two campaigns, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most productive wide players.

Before his time in Belgium, Tzolis netted 23 goals for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the German second tier during the 2023-24 season, underlining his remarkable consistency in front of goal.

The Athletic reports that Arsenal are actively pursuing Tzolis, and importantly, a deal for the winger would not affect the club’s separate interest in Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Mikel Arteta is determined to add quality to the final third, with Arsenal also linked with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as they explore multiple options.

Both Rogers and Barcola could cost in the region of £80million, representing a significant financial commitment from the Arsenal ownership group.

Arsenal spent roughly £250million in last summer’s transfer window, bringing in Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke to bolster their attacking depth considerably.

Arteta’s focus this window remains firmly on the left side of the attack, and the club have already reportedly contacted Juventus about Turkish international Kenan Yildiz, only to be told he is not for sale.

Tzolis himself has made no secret of his ambitions, openly stating his desire to move to a club competing in European football’s elite club competition.

When asked by Nieuwsblad last month what sort of club could convince him to leave Brugge, he said: “It will have to be a Champions League team from England, Germany, Spain, or Italy.”

He added: “Or well, if PSG comes knocking, I’ll probably go too, right? (laughs) Then I’ll say I love France. But only PSG is a better option in France than Club Brugge.”

He concluded: “There might be a few more possibilities in the Premier League.”

England international Rogers, 23, remains a serious target for Arsenal, with Arteta said to be pushing the club hard to complete that signing as well.

Rogers is currently on international duty with the Three Lions and is expected to play a prominent role in Thomas Tuchel’s squad going forward.

Following Arsenal’s defeat to PSG in the Champions League final, Arteta called directly on the club hierarchy to demonstrate genuine ambition in the transfer market.

“We will have to start making some very important decisions if we want to reach another level,” the Arsenal manager said after the loss.

“We are going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it is going to demand us to be very ambitious, very fast and very smart.”
