Newcastle United Make Official Bid And Are “Confident” Of Signing Victor Munoz “Very Soon” For €30m

Newcastle United have submitted an official bid for Osasuna winger Victor Munoz, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting the club are confident of completing a deal.

The 22-year-old has caught the eye with his performances in La Liga and is considered a strong prospect for the future at St James’ Park.

Romano confirmed on X that Newcastle are expecting to finalise a package worth over €30m for the Spanish winger very soon after their official bid was submitted.

The transfer comes in the wake of Anthony Gordon’s sale to Barcelona, which left Newcastle without a key wide option heading into the summer window.

Romano posted: “Newcastle, confident to seal Victor Muñoz deal very soon for package over €30m after official bid sent today. Real Madrid have 50% sell-on clause and buy back clause but #NUFC optimistic to proceed quickly.”

The involvement of Real Madrid adds an extra layer of complexity to the deal, with the Spanish giants holding both a 50% sell-on clause and a buy-back clause on the player.

That means Real Madrid stand to pocket a significant sum from the transfer fee, should the deal be finalised as Romano suggests it will be.

Despite those complications, Newcastle appear undeterred and are pushing ahead quickly to get the signing over the line before any rival interest develops.

The Magpies have endured a difficult period after losing Alexander Isak the previous summer, with the signings brought in to replace him failing to produce the desired impact at St James’ Park.

The club had enjoyed significant success during the 2024/25 campaign, winning the Carabao Cup final and qualifying for the Champions League, but have struggled to maintain that level since.

Eddie Howe’s squad is widely seen as needing reinforcement, and a young, dynamic winger of Munoz’s profile could help restore some of the attacking threat Newcastle have been missing.

At just 22, the Osasuna winger represents both an immediate option and a long-term investment as Newcastle look to rebuild their squad and return to competing at the top end of the Premier League.

If Romano’s optimism proves well-founded and the deal is completed swiftly, it would mark a positive early step in what looks set to be a busy summer transfer window for the club.
