Alexei Rojas Rejects New Contract As Arsenal Confirm Full List Of Departing Players

Arsenal goalkeeper Alexei Rojas has turned down a fresh contract offer from the club, with the Premier League now officially confirming his departure.

The 20-year-old Colombian shot-stopper will leave the Gunners when his current deal expires on June 30, choosing to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

The Premier League published a full retained and released list covering all 20 top-flight clubs, which included the note about Rojas rejecting fresh terms.

Reports from Colombia had already suggested around a week ago that Arsenal had made an offer to keep the young goalkeeper at the club.

Rojas made just one competitive appearance for Arsenal’s U21 side during his time at the club, coming in the EFL Trophy.

Despite his limited senior appearances, Rojas was included in Arsenal’s first-team squad for their 3-0 Champions League group stage victory over Slavia Prague in November.

Arsenal have confirmed a total of 15 departures across the youth, first team and women’s squads ahead of the end of the current campaign.

Also leaving the club is 19-year-old defender Josh Nichols, a player once rated incredibly highly within Arsenal’s academy setup.

Nichols, who was part of last summer’s pre-season tour of the United States, is now set to sign with Croatian club NK Kustosija Zagreb.

He signed his first professional deal in the summer of 2024 before making his professional debut, starting the 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Bolton that September.

Midfielder Harrison Dudziak is another academy prospect heading for the exit door after a season that included bench inclusion for the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Sporting.

Dudziak also featured regularly in the UEFA Youth League and started all three of Arsenal’s EFL Trophy games before heading out on loan to Braintree Town.

On a more positive note for the club, Mikel Arteta’s eldest son Gabriel has signed scholarship terms with Arsenal after making four appearances for the U18s last season.

The youngster has just turned 17, meaning he remains eligible for the U18s again next season as he continues his development at London Colney.
