Chelsea are plotting a major summer transfer move to sign Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler, according to a prominent transfer insider on social media.
The London club is reportedly willing to spend £100 million to land the Turkish international as a marquee signing for the 2026/27 campaign at Stamford Bridge.
The insider broke the news with a direct post reading: “BREAKING: Chelsea are preparing a potential £100M move for Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler.”
Incoming Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso is understood to be the driving force behind the pursuit, keen to orchestrate a reunion with the 21-year-old playmaker.
Alonso worked with Guler during a stint at Real Madrid before his departure, and the pair developed a strong working relationship during that period.
Under Alonso’s guidance, Guler registered four goals and 10 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions, averaging 0.41 goal contributions per game.
After Alonso left the Bernabeu, Guler’s output dipped noticeably, adding only two goals and four assists in the remaining 17 appearances of the season.
Those numbers highlight the clear influence Alonso had on Guler’s development, and Chelsea believe that familiarity could unlock the best version of the young Turk.
Despite Real Madrid publicly insisting that Guler is not for sale, Chelsea are pressing ahead and are prepared to test the Spanish club’s resolve with a significant financial offer.
Guler himself has reportedly expressed a preference to remain in Spain and fight for his place, which could complicate Chelsea’s pursuit considerably.
Arsenal and Manchester United are also said to be monitoring the situation, meaning Chelsea face stiff competition from Premier League rivals for his signature.
Operating as an inverted right winger and central advanced playmaker, Guler finished the season with six goals and 14 assists across 51 appearances in total.
Chelsea clearly believe a guaranteed starting role under a manager who trusts him completely could be the most compelling argument to convince Guler to make the move to west London.
