Liverpool are making a serious move to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, with the club firmly targeting the 19-year-old as a top priority this summer.

The Reds are actively working to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah, who has departed the club, making the hunt for a dynamic wide attacker more urgent than ever.

Romano said on the Here We Go podcast: “Diomande is probably one of the most exciting and electrifying wingers on the market.”

Romano continued: “Now, it’s difficult to find players who can be young, talented [good in] one-v-one, fast, score, deliver assists… it’s very difficult.”

He added: “He’s wanted by Liverpool and PSG. Both clubs are still in the mix. Liverpool are really pushing and really insisting to make it happen.”

Romano further confirmed the scale of Liverpool’s ambition, stating: “For Liverpool, he’s a top, top priority. They are offering important money to the player to get it done.”

Paris Saint-Germain are also competing for Diomande’s signature, meaning Liverpool will need to move decisively if they want to beat off the French giants in this transfer race.

However, PSG’s depth in wide areas may work in Liverpool’s favour, as the likes of Desire Doué already occupy space on the right flank in Paris, making regular starts less guaranteed for Diomande.

Liverpool’s situation is arguably more appealing for the young Ivorian, who would have the platform to establish himself as a key figure in a new-look Reds attack.

Adding further intrigue to the potential move, Diomande has previously revealed he is a boyhood Liverpool supporter, which could prove to be a decisive factor in negotiations.
