The Italian giant to hold talks to Aston Villa star agent for summer move

The Italian giant, Juventus have scheduled to hold talks to Aston Villa star agent to facilitate the summer move of their key man.

Aston Villa have completed the 2025/26 season with success for Champions League spot and silverware in hand. Nevertheless, it does not seem to prevent one of their key figures, Emiliano Martinez, to leave Villa Park. After Liverpool’s U-turn following Alisson’s decision to stay in Anfield, it is Juventus which is now the frontrunner to sign him, with Inter Milan in the mix.

According to the report from Tuttosport, Bianconeri are prepared to make a move for Martinez, should the talk with his agent, Gustavo Goni, go well.

“If the parties manage to reach an agreement, they will then have to move on to the next step: convincing Aston Villa – taking advantage of the player’s wishes – to revise their demands on his transfer fee.”

Potentially hard to negotiate?

Despite Martinez’s possible interest to switch side, there is still one stumbling issue which could still block his move to Turin. Due to La Vecchia Signora’s failure to compete in the Champions League, their finance might be impacted too as they would be unable to spend spree on big transfer fee and high salary.

Such is one crucial thing which Juventus are keen to discuss with Goni immediately. The Argentine reportedly still wanted the same salary as his current one, £6.05 million per season. What’s more, Villa also put £17.29 million. Such amount would be a challenge to meet for the Italian side.

They would like to negotiate on a lower fee if Martinez prefers to keep his wage demand. Other options would be spreading his contract to four-year deal. The reason behind this plan, beside Juventus’s financial power next season, would be the fact that the former Arsenal goalkeeper will be 34 years old next September.

Despite showing no signs of slowing down, Martinez remains one of the best shot stoppers in the world. He has won FIFA Best goalkeeper twice in 2022 and 2024. He could still perform well on the top level in several more years to come. The goalie with 59 international caps is also the key man in Argentina’s world cup triumph in 2022.

Will Martinez really move this time?

The Argentine goalkeeper has been tipped to depart from West Midlands since last summer. He was linked to a switch to Manchester United but the transfer was cancelled on the last minute as United eventually opted for the Belgian’ Senne Lammens.

Martinez stayed and performed his best as helped Villa ending the 30-year title drought by clinching Europa League plus securing the Champions League spot. Last season, he made 14 clean sheets in 44 games.

This summer, the move is believed on the cards as the 33-year old shot stopper is likely to look for a fresh challenge as his main motivation. Such would be interesting as Juventus failed to secure UCL spot and only compete in Europa League next season.
