Mikel Arteta Signs Julian Alvarez And Bruno Guimarães As Arsenal Build £346m Dream Attack For Title Defence

Arsenal are preparing for another major summer overhaul as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his Premier League champions ahead of the new campaign.

The Gunners have already spent approximately £930m on new players since Arteta took charge in December 2019, with no signs of slowing down.

Despite winning the Premier League title, Arsenal fell agonisingly short in the Champions League final, losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

Arteta made clear immediately after that defeat that significant changes were coming, stating the club must act fast to reach the next level.

Speaking to reporters, the Arsenal manager said: “We will have to start making some very important decisions if we want to reach another level.”

Arteta added: “We are going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it is going to demand us to be very ambitious, very fast and very smart.”

Sporting director Andrea Berta faces a huge summer task, with rivals Manchester City and Liverpool both determined to reclaim the Premier League crown.

The transfer window opens on June 15, giving Arsenal time to execute what could be their most ambitious rebuild since Arteta arrived at the club.

Nine first-team players are expected to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, generating an estimated £199.6m in transfer revenue according to Transfermarkt.

Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is among those set to depart, having fallen short of expectations and ultimately contributing to Arsenal’s Champions League final heartbreak.

Christian Norgaard, who offered little on-pitch value throughout the season despite being at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, is also expected to move on.

Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Jesus are all entering the final 12 months of their contracts, making their exits likely this window.

Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres largely disappointed after their arrivals, while Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson, both out on loan, are also set to be offloaded.

On the incomings front, Arsenal are strongly linked with Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães, who faces a season without European football at St James’ Park.

Bradley Barcola, Morgan Rogers, Julian Alvarez, and Eli Junior Kroupi are all identified as potential frontline additions to transform Arteta’s attacking options.

Yan Sommer, the 37-year-old goalkeeper who starred in Inter Milan’s title-winning campaign, is expected to be available on a free transfer and would serve as backup to David Raya.

Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz would remain central figures, with Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman also potentially featuring depending on Arteta’s positional plans.

The total estimated expenditure for the incoming transfers is around £345.6m according to Transfermarkt, representing Arsenal’s most ambitious summer yet under Arteta.
