Jack Grealish Keen On Permanent Everton Switch Despite Enzo Maresca Offering Manchester City Lifeline

Jack Grealish is reportedly still interested in making his Everton move permanent this summer, even as a managerial change at Manchester City opens a potential door for his return.

According to Football Insider, the 30-year-old remains “keen” on joining Everton permanently after spending last season on loan at Goodison Park.

Incoming Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca is expected to hold talks with Grealish once he officially takes charge at the club.

The Italian manager is reportedly willing to offer Grealish a fresh opportunity, which could complicate Everton’s hopes of securing a permanent deal.

Sky Sports also reported last week that Maresca wants to hand Grealish a lifeline at City, adding further uncertainty to the player’s immediate future.

From Grealish’s perspective, the central concern remains game time after experiencing a difficult spell down the pecking order at the Etihad.

The winger turns 31 later this year, meaning regular first-team football has become a priority rather than simply holding a place in a large squad.

The Guardian reported that when Grealish joined Everton in August 2025, the loan move was designed to revive his form and help him push back into England contention ahead of the World Cup.

That opportunity to feel important again at Goodison Park may ultimately prove more appealing than returning to City, even with Maresca’s openness to talks.

Everton would be eager to retain his services on a permanent basis, but any deal would require careful financial structuring given the size of Grealish’s wages.

If both the player and City are willing to negotiate a transfer, there is still a viable pathway to making a permanent switch happen this summer.

A conversation with Maresca is worth having, but Grealish must weigh up whether a rotation role at City serves him better than regular starts at Everton.

Manchester City can offer the prospect of major trophies, whereas Everton can offer Grealish something arguably more pressing at this stage of his career: genuine importance.
