Victor Wembanyama Declares “My Life Depends On It” As San Antonio Spurs Reach NBA Finals

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs punched their ticket to the NBA Finals with a commanding Game 7 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday.

The final score of 111-103 sent the Spurs through the Western Conference Finals and set up a championship showdown with the New York Knicks.

The NBA Finals series is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, giving the Spurs home-court advantage to open the series.

Wembanyama wasted no time making his intentions clear after the final buzzer, delivering a memorable message to reporters in the aftermath of the win.

“I want to win so bad,” he told reporters after the game. “It’s like my life depends on it.”

He also reflected on the magnitude of the moment, adding, “It’s a lifetime chance,” when speaking about advancing to the Finals.

The 22-year-old backed those words up with a strong individual performance throughout the series against the Thunder, cementing his status as the best player on the floor.

Wembanyama was unanimously named the Western Conference Finals Most Valuable Player on Saturday after leading San Antonio to their series victory.

In Game 7 alone, he posted 22 points and seven rebounds, delivering when his team needed him most on the biggest stage.

Across the full seven-game series, Wembanyama averaged 27.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.7 blocks in 37.7 minutes per game.

All eyes will now turn to the NBA Finals, where Wembanyama and the Spurs will go head-to-head with Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks starting Wednesday.
