Leeds United are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer, having identified Shakhtar Donetsk’s Dmytro Riznyk as a key target.

According to a report from Football Insider, the club are seeking an established goalkeeper capable of starting every single week.

Karl Darlow is expected to sign a new contract at Elland Road, but Leeds view him as being in the twilight stages of his career.

The club do not want Darlow to be their first-choice starter on a regular basis going forward into the Premier League.

Lucas Perri has also failed to convince the manager, with his performances described as quite inconsistent throughout the campaign.

Riznyk, aged 27, has emerged as the ideal solution to Leeds United’s goalkeeping concerns heading into the summer window.

The Ukrainian goalkeeper has impressed significantly with Shakhtar Donetsk, registering an outstanding 22 clean sheets across all competitions.

Leeds United are working to build a squad fully capable of competing in the Premier League every season, and Riznyk fits that vision.

The player is considered to be at the peak of his career, making this the right time for him to join a bigger club.

Riznyk is contracted to Shakhtar Donetsk until the end of 2027, meaning the Ukrainian side face pressure to sell rather than lose him for nothing.

It would make clear financial sense for Shakhtar to agree a reasonable fee this summer and allow themselves adequate time to find a proper replacement.
