Mikel Arteta Names Changed Arsenal Side To Face PSG In Champions League Final At Puskas Arena

Arsenal head into their Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, looking to win the trophy for the very first time in their history.

Standing in their way are the defending champions PSG, who knocked Arsenal out at the semi-final stage during the previous season’s competition.

Luis Enrique has stated that his side’s motivation to win a second successive Champions League title is even greater than Arsenal’s desire to lift their first.

Mikel Arteta acknowledged that PSG hold favourites status as holders, but made clear that Arsenal’s intention is to take the crown from them in Budapest.

Arsenal received a significant boost ahead of the final, with Arteta confirming that Jurrien Timber is fit enough to start the match at the Puskas Arena.

Enrique also delivered good news for PSG, confirming that both Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi are available to play, with Ousmane Dembele also confirming his own fitness.

Arsenal’s confirmed starting XI reads: Raya, Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie, Rice, MLS, Odegaard, Saka, Kai Havertz, Trossard, with Timber named among the substitutes.

PSG line up with Safonov in goal, supported by Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, Doue, Kvaratskhelia, and Dembele.

Arsenal have not lost a single match throughout the Champions League this season and have conceded just six goals across the entire campaign.

PSG, in contrast, have been prolific in front of goal, scoring 44 times in the competition and averaging 2.75 goals per match heading into the final.

The Gunners last appeared in a Champions League final back in 2006, making this only their second appearance on European football’s grandest stage in their 140-year history.

Arteta has guided Arsenal through eight league phase games and six knockout legs this season, remaining unbeaten throughout all 14 matches in the competition.

A victory tonight would deliver a Premier League and European double for Arsenal, having already lifted the Premier League trophy ahead of this final.

Thousands of Arsenal supporters have made the trip to Budapest, with or without tickets, hoping to witness a historic moment for the club.
