Liverpool Tell Alisson Becker He Is Not For Sale As Club Battles Summer Exodus

Liverpool have made their position clear to Alisson Becker, formally telling the Brazilian goalkeeper they want him to remain at Anfield next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the club communicated this stance to Alisson and have held this position since last week.

Liverpool are determined not to lose another experienced leader during what is already shaping up to be a difficult summer of significant change.

The decision comes as the club navigate a major transitional period, with several senior figures either departing or being strongly linked with exits.

Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are already set to leave the Merseyside club this summer, representing two enormous losses for the squad.

Ibrahima Konaté is also expected to depart on a free transfer after failing to agree terms on a new deal with the club.

Against that backdrop, losing Alisson would represent yet another serious blow to Liverpool’s experience and dressing room authority heading into next season.

Juventus have been strongly linked with the goalkeeper, with Sky Sports reporting earlier in May that the Italian club had made Alisson one of their top summer targets.

Liverpool’s stance, however, now appears firm, with the club wanting Alisson to stay for at least another season as his current contract runs until 2027.

There is also the Giorgi Mamardashvili situation to consider, with Liverpool holding a long-term goalkeeper plan that requires careful management during a period of rebuilding.

Throwing a new goalkeeper straight into a squad already losing major voices could present unnecessary risks for head coach Arne Slot during such a transitional window.

Keeping Alisson provides the club with a level of stability and reliability while the broader rebuild continues to take shape around him.

At 33, Alisson remains one of the few remaining players from Liverpool’s great modern era who still brings authority, experience and calmness to the dressing room.

Salah’s departure is already considered a massive loss, while Robertson’s exit carries significant emotional weight and Konaté’s absence further weakens the defensive options available.

Liverpool retaining Alisson ensures that, amid so much change, at least one senior and proven figure remains at the heart of the squad for the 2026-27 campaign.
