Jack Whitehall Admits He Told Declan Rice He Would Never Win A Trophy

Jack Whitehall once told Declan Rice to his face that he would never win a trophy, and the comedian has never been so happy to be proven wrong.

The Arsenal fan was present at Selhurst Park when the Gunners finally got their hands on the Premier League title, celebrating on the pitch with Mikel Arteta’s side.

Whitehall described the moment with Rice as a full circle experience, given his earlier jokes about the midfielder never getting his hands on silverware.

Speaking exclusively, Whitehall said: “I saw Declan. I’ve done some filming with him before so I knew him quite a bit.”

He added: “It was for Comic Relief. I had been winding him up about how he was never going to win a trophy. That was a cool full circle moment to be honest with you, as he was getting significant trophies as well.”

Before joining Arsenal, the only trophy Rice had won was the Europa Conference League, arriving at the club in a £104million deal in 2023.

Since his move, Rice endured two second-placed Premier League finishes, reached the Champions League semi-final, and lost a League Cup final to Manchester City before the title triumph.

Rice was one of many Arsenal players who celebrated outside the Emirates Stadium until 5am following the title win, barely stopping smiling throughout the entire evening.

Whitehall, describing his own role in the Selhurst Park celebrations, said: “I was at Selhurst Park. I was our team’s version of Salt Bae.”

He continued: “[I was] Down there, on the pitch, getting in and amongst it as the team celebrated with their friends and family. It was an amazing day and an amazing week.”

Whitehall also expressed his hopes that the celebrations could continue, with Arsenal preparing to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest.

He said: “I hope it can continue to be an amazing fortnight in Budapest. I left the house last Tuesday, handed my toddler to my wife and I have barely been back since.”

Whitehall is set to compete in Soccer Aid for UNICEF on Sunday 31st May, adding to what has already been a memorable week for the passionate Arsenal supporter.
