Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Emerge As Contenders For £80 Million Aston Villa Star

Arsenal are reportedly among the serious contenders to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers this summer transfer window.

The Premier League champions are said to be competing for the England international’s signature alongside Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

talkSPORT have reported that Aston Villa are prepared to sell Rogers before the World Cup, which begins in 15 days.

Despite the interest from multiple clubs, the 23-year-old has not expressed any desire to leave and remains calm about his future.

Aston Villa are said to value Rogers at in excess of £80 million, a figure that would eclipse the deal that brought Kai Havertz to the club.

That valuation would fall short, depending on the agreement, of Arsenal’s current club record £100million transfer for Declan Rice.

Journalist Ben Jacobs posted on X, writing: “Arsenal a serious contender for Morgan Rogers, as revealed on @talkSPORT.”

Jacobs added: “Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG remain the other clubs keen. Aston Villa value Rogers at £80m+. A sale this summer is expected given it suits all parties.”

He continued: “However, Rogers is not agitating to leave and is calm if his future is not resolved until after the World Cup. However, Aston Villa are prepared to sell before the tournament for the right offer.”

Rogers still has five years remaining on his current contract, meaning Villa hold considerable leverage in any potential transfer negotiations.

Should Rogers perform strongly for Thomas Tuchel’s side at the World Cup, held across America, Mexico and Canada, his price tag could rise significantly.

A standout tournament could also attract fresh interest from other major European clubs, potentially driving a bidding war and further inflating his valuation.

Rogers himself reflected on his performances, saying: “The manager’s been banging on to me about getting more easy goals and to get into the box. Happy I could get there and get a toe on it to score.”

He added: “It was all worth it in the end. I try to give my all and give the best I’ve got.”

Manager Emery has been credited with unlocking Rogers’ potential after securing the talent from Middlesbrough in 2024, playing a key role in the player’s improved numbers.

Villa, who finished fourth in the Premier League and won the Europa League this season, may face questions over why they would sell one of their most influential players.

Arsenal will face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final on May 30 as they look to cap a remarkable campaign.
