Aston Villa are currently linked to a move for English top talent who is currently struggling in France for a summer transfer.
Aston Villa transfer target is currently added with one exciting English top talent today. They have been, in fact, reportedly holding talks as reported by Footballfancast.
“Aston Villa have now held talks to sign Ethan Nwaneri, with Arsenal prepared to sanction a transfer in the upcoming window.”
Nwaneri appears to have struggled to get regular minutes in England while playing for Arsenal. Consequently, he has been loaned out to Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille since January.
The 19-year-old winger has been on the radar of several clubs. His representative has reportedly been pushed to the exit following the rare chance for playing regularly. Although he is still tied to his current contract, which expires in summer 2030, Nwaneri does not seem to see his future at Emirates anymore.
Despite having scored 10 goals and made two assists in 51 games for the Gunners, he could be sold too. His parent club could not guarantee his regular spot yet. The versatile winger could be available for £52 million, which is quite high for the youngster.
Villa might be negotiating a loan deal, which is more suitable for the club’s financial condition. Yet, they are not the only ones who are keen on signing him. Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are lining up for the winger who has netted twice and provided one assist for Marseille in 11 games so far.
The next question remains, which is the vital one. It will be interesting to see how long he will be integrated into the first team. Nwaneri can be deployed as a number 10 or a right winger. Perhaps he could be trained for playing on the left side as well in the future.
The Lions still have several youngsters who have been signed but not yet included in the first team. The likes of Lewis Dobbin, Samuel Iling Junior, Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba, Joe Gauci, Zepiqueno Redmond and Kosta Nedeljkovic are all still loaned out first. Thus, Nwaneri could head the same way as them, as it is a part of the development programme.
Unless Emery is confident enough to include him alongside those youngsters into the first team next season, Nwaneri might reconsider moving to Villa Park instead. He might be looking for the team which can guarantee his regular minutes on the pitch.
