Kristoffer Reitan wasn’t playing in a tournament. But he still was going to play.
Reitan said he had a game set up with fellow pros Rasmus Hojgaard, Marco Penge and Kris Ventura. He said he was looking forward to it.
Then the phone rang.
He was first alternate in the Cadillac Championship, this week’s PGA Tour event. He headed out to Miami.
Then Reitan was in.
And then?

“Just mainly happy to be here and get a chance in one of the signature events,” Reitan said. “Yeah, I’ve been trying to look at it as whatever happens this week is a bonus no matter what.
“Obviously very, very pleased to be in the position I’m in.”
