COPSIN Thanks Government of Canada For Their Investment in Sport
(April 29, 2026 – Vancouver, BC)
The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN) welcomes the Government of Canada’s investment in sport announced yesterday as part of the Spring Economic Update and highlighted today by Secretary of State for Sport Adam van Koeverden in Vancouver.
COPSIN thanks Prime Minister Mark Carney and Secretary of State van Koeverden for what will be a transformational investment in sport. This financial commitment recognizes the important role high performance sport plays in bringing Canadians together and showcasing our country on the world stage.
This game-changing investment will help strengthen the system and daily training environment that support athletes as they prepare for and compete at the highest level. Access to performance services—such as sport science, sport medicine, and mental health support—plays a critical role in helping athletes stay healthy and perform when it matters most.
As more details become available, we look forward to working with partners across the system to help ensure this investment has lasting and meaningful impact for athletes and coaches. It is an important step toward supporting Canadian excellence in sport and the moments that unite us all.
