Aston Villa FPL winners and losers from Gameweek 17: the Villa players you need for Christmas

Aston Villa kept their winning run alive in the Premier League by beating Manchester United last Sunday.

Villa players weren’t much use for Fantasy Premier League players early in the season but a few of them have really started pulling their weight during their team’s seven-match winning run.

Let’s check in with last week’s scores in the Premier League’s official FPL game and see how the Villa boys have been getting on. Don’t forget – your chips will reset soon. Get them used!

Top Aston Villa FPL scorers in GW17

Morgan Rogers smashed in 15 lovely points thanks to an impactful performance against United. He scored two goals, racked up eight defensive contributions and added three bonus points for the second gameweek in a row.

Consequently, he’s now streaking away at the top of the rankings of Villa players and fast approaching 100 points for the season. Not bad after the start he – and Villa – had.

His first goal was assisted by John McGinn and his second by Ollie Watkins, each of whom collected five points for GW17. Amadou Onana and Emiliano Martínez defended their way to four and three points respectively.

AVF FPL update GW17

Our AVF FPL league now has no fewer than 20 participants who’ve broken the 1000-point barrier – congratulations to you all, including unmoved league leader Gary James and title chaser Abdelrhman Gooda.

The gap at the top is down to 19 points after GW17 and Rich Ludlow has been catching up too, moving into third in the process. Warren Torch and Rich Brute now complete the top five.

Our top scorer this week was Tawananyasha Chikudza, who returned an incredible 118 points with help from Rogers, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, captain Erling Haaland and a beautifully timed bench boost.

We’re not talking about my performance this week. We go again?
