2025 Open Championship purse: Payout breakdown, winner's share

Scottie Scheffler is the Open Championship frontrunner and 18 holes away from hoisting his first Claret Jug. With it would come yet another massive paycheck.

Scheffler, at 14 under par, leads the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush through 54 holes, which gives him a four-shot lead over Haotong Li (10 under) and five-shot edge over Matt Fitzpatrick (nine under). Four others, including Rory McIlroy, are six back at eight under par.

While Scheffler, the World No. 1, is the favorite on Sunday, whoever wins receives a $3.1 million winner’s check from the $17 million purse. Both numbers are what the R&A awarded at last year’s Open.

The Open Championship usually has the lowest purse of the four majors. Earlier this year, the Masters offered $21 million ($4.2 million winner), the PGA Championship $19 million ($3.42 million winner) and the U.S. Open $21.5 million ($4.3 million winner).

The top-10 pros (plus ties) who didn’t make the Open Championship cut receive $12,350 each, with the next 10 and ties getting $10,300 each. The remaining pros receive $8,750 each.

You can watch the final round of The Open on Sunday beginning at 4 a.m. ET on USA and 7 a.m. ET on NBC. Below is the complete Open Championship payout breakdown.
