The Truist Championship, an event typically held at Quail Hollow, is on a one-year field trip to Philadelphia Cricket Club. Why? Quail Hollow hosts the 2025 PGA Championship next week.
But it’s still a huge tournament, and it’s received Signature Event status this season. That means only the best-of-the-best players are playing, and they’re playing for an enormous purse.
At Truist Championship, fitting champion faces 2 final-round obstacles
The total purse for this week’s Truist Championship is $20 million. That amount is not distributed equally among the entire field, of course.
Former Open champion Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka are tied for the lead heading into Sunday’s final round. Whoever comes out on top and wins will take home $3.6 million.
Lowry and Straka will face stiff competition in the likes of major winners Justin Thomas and Hideki Matsuyama, as well as Masters champion Rory McIlroy.
But even for those who don’t win, a lot of money is up for grabs. The payouts for second and third are north of $1 million as well.
Even the player who finishes dead last in 72nd will earn $36,000.
