Rafael Campos was chasing his first PGA Tour win this week in Bermuda, but it’s hardly the biggest “first” in his life this week.
Campos’ wife gave birth to the couple’s first child on Monday, a beautiful and healthy baby girl, and as a result, Campos barely made it to the island in time for his 12:58 p.m. local Round 1 tee time on Thursday at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
“I think really everything has changed this week not because I’m playing well, it’s just I had a daughter on Monday and it doesn’t matter if I play bad, they don’t care,” Campos said Saturday night. “You know, my wife doesn’t care, my daughter won’t care.
“So at the end of the day if I end up losing my job, I lost my job and I’ve got a beautiful daughter and beautiful wife back home just waiting for me to hopefully give ’em a hug.”
The thing is, Campos isn’t losing, far from it. He entered the final round in a tie for the lead at 16 under, and got the job done for his first career PGA Tour title with a final round 68.
With that, below is the complete payout breakdown for this week’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship. The total purse is $6.9 million.
