Takehiro Tomiyasu made his long-awaited appearance in the new campaign when Arsenal hosted Southampton, sporting a blonde hair that actually looked really good on him.
Like Thomas Partey in the early years of his Arsenal career, Tomiyasu has been plagued with injuries and his momentum has been stifled with his lack of fitness, which has also affected his potential minutes. However, Tomiyasu’s ability to play adeptly across the entire back line has made Tomiyasu to become Arsenal’s Swiss Army Knife.
With Ben White nursing a groin injury and suffering a knock in the win over Paris St. Germain, Arsenal deployed Riccardo Calafiori as a make-shift right back for the entirety of the second half and when Southampton came to town, Thomas Partey featured as the right back and didn’t support Bukayo Saka adequately due to his lack of speed and agility.
I’d say Tomiyasu will be in line for a potential start if White and Timber are not deemed for to start.
